Fox Rothschild has announced plans to expand the firm’s footprint in the Upper Midwest by merging with Minneapolis-based Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly LLP.

“Establishing a strong presence in the Upper Midwest is an important component in Fox’s overall strategic growth plan,” Fox Rothschild’s Mark Silow said. “The Oppenheimer firm offers us a chance to enter this important market in a robust way, adding an established group of attorneys with strong client relationships and deep roots in the community.”

A total of 82 attorneys will be joining the ranks of Fox Rothschild when the merger goes into effect on January 4, 2016, bringing the total number of Fox attorneys to more than 700.

Silow said the Oppenheimer attorneys joining Fox Rothschild would complement the firm’s already strong foundation in commercial litigation and transactional work.

“This is also an especially good fit because our firms share many of the same strengths, and our clients will benefit from the depth we are adding with the Oppenheimer attorneys, especially in commercial litigation, corporate and M&A work,” he said.

The merger will help Fox Rothschild position itself as a leader in the Minneapolis market.

Oppenheimer Managing Partner Brad Keil said, “We are thrilled to be joining a growing and entrepreneurial firm. This enables us to provide our clients with all the benefits of a large, full-service firm, with a national footprint, while maintaining the personal touch of a midsized firm.”
