Fox Rothschild Moves Up Ranks in Both NLJ 250 and PA Law 100December 29, 2009 – Press Releases
Fox Rothschild LLP has grown in lawyer headcount in 2009, breaking into the top 100 firms in the National Law Journal survey of the 250 largest law firms in the country and tying for #3 in The Legal Intelligencer’s and Pennsylvania Law Weekly’s PA Law 100 list of Fastest Growing Firms in Pennsylvania.
In the 2009 NLJ 250 survey, Fox Rothschild showed a net gain of 34 attorneys from 2008, moving up to #99 from #103. The National Law Journal ranks the nation’s 250 largest law firms by total number of full-time equivalent attorneys.
“We are pleased that our goal of steady, strategic growth has been recognized in this year’s NLJ 250,” said Mark L. Silow, administrative partner of the firm. “We have long maintained a goal of conscientious expansion designed to align with our clients’ legal needs, and we will continue to explore avenues of growth that make long-term business sense for us and for our clients.”
Fox Rothschild was also noted in the PA Law 100 survey, conducted and published by The Legal Intelligencer and Pennsylvania Law Weekly. The firm showed a net increase of 12 lawyers in the Commonwealth in 2009, placing it at #13 (up from #14 in 2008) on the overall list of largest law firms in Pennsylvania by number of attorneys and tying for #3 in the list of Fastest Growing Law Firms in Pennsylvania.
These latest rankings come on the heels of other notable placements in national surveys in 2009. The firm ranked #3 in the nation in The American Lawyer 2009 Summer Associate Survey, scoring above the national average in every category in the survey. Additionally, Fox Rothschild’s middle market strategy and careful, steady approach to growth paid off this year. When many other firms were suffering financially, the firm delivered a 12% gain in gross revenue according to The American Lawyer AmLaw 200 survey and was one of the few Philadelphia firms to see an increase in profit margin (18% over the prior year). The Legal Intelligencer called Fox Rothschild the law firm with “the best validation of a middle-market, modest-but-steady growth strategy.” A leading law firm consultant termed Fox a “buck the trend” firm in 2009.
Additionally, multiple high-profile lateral attorneys have joined Fox Rothschild within the past 12 months. The firm also opened an office in Stamford, CT, this year, elected 12 attorneys to partnership in 2009 and remains fully committed to summer and fall associate recruiting.
