Continuing to add significant depth to its nationwide Intellectual Property bench, Fox is proud to welcome experienced trademark and copyright lawyer Michael J. Leonard to the firm’s Philadelphia office.

Keenly adept at managing and enforcing domestic and international intellectual property rights, Mr. Leonard is a go-to resource on trademarks, copyrights and other IP-related issues for clients in the telecommunications, computer software and technology, entertainment and sports, pharmaceutical, chemical, food and beverage, publishing, scientific research and apparel industries.

Mr. Leonard provides strategic counsel on the availability and adoption of trademarks as well as the management and enforcement of trademark portfolios in the United States and abroad. He also represents clients in opposition and cancellation proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and various U.S. district courts.

In addition, Mr. Leonard routinely advises on Internet and domain name disputes and handles IP transactions involving trademark and copyright licenses, due diligence and portfolio audits. He also counsels clients in U.S. and foreign copyright matters, U.S. customs enforcement, branding, false advertising, right of publicity and labeling issues.

Deeply committed to this area of the law, Mr. Leonard maintains active membership with the International Trademark Association (INTA), Pharmaceutical Trademarks Group (PTMG) and Marques, the Association of European Trademark Holders.

Mr. Leonard holds an L.L.M. in International Intellectual Property Law from Munich Intellectual Property Law Center at the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property. He earned his J.D. from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 1997 and his B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1988

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Leonard served as chair of the trademark and copyright group at Panitch Schwarze Belisario & Nadel in Philadelphia.
