Irina Elgart Receives NJ Builders Association’s Affordable Housing Award

January 30, 2020 – Press Releases

Fox Rothschild LLP congratulates Irina B. Elgart, who was honored with the Affordable Housing Award by the New Jersey Builders Association, the leading trade association for the shelter industry in New Jersey.

This award is presented annually to an individual who has been successful in supporting the production of affordable housing.

“I am truly honored to have received this recognition. My team played a crucial role in several landmark affordable housing cases over the last decade,” said Elgart. “These court rulings helped define the law for developers and individuals on compliance issues that were delaying affordable housing projects throughout the state.”

At Fox, Elgart works closely with the Real Estate Department and Zoning & Land Use Practice in disputes with municipalities, often involving affordable housing, real estate contracts, redevelopment and eminent domain issues that affect developers and property owners. Her work in this area previously earned her the Equal Justice Medal Award from the Legal Services of New Jersey, which recognized her pro bono service to low income residents facing a municipality that was attempting to displace them from their housing.

Elgart has also authored articles on the most recent regulatory challenges facing the affordable housing industry that appeared in ROI-NJ and The New Jersey Law Journal in 2019.

She earned her J.D., with honors, from Rutgers Law School and her B.S. from Rutgers University.
