Michael S. Harrington, managing partner of Fox Rothschild’s Exton office and chair of the firm’s Corporate Department, was recently appointed to the board of directors of the Chester County Keystone Innovation Zone (KIZ).
The Chester County KIZ, operated by the Chester County Economic Development Council, is one of 29 geographically designated zones created under the state-wide initiative of Governor Edward G. Rendell to build knowledge-based economies and cultivate entrepreneurship in Pennsylvania. Each KIZ is designed to foster innovation and create entrepreneurial opportunities and achieves this by aligning the combined resources of educational institutions, private businesses, business support organizations, commercial lending institutions, venture capital networks, angel investors and foundations.
Harrington, who is also a founding member of Fox Rothschild’s Technology and Venture Finance Practice Group as well as a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, represents early- and middle-stage growth, technology and life science companies in a wide range of corporate matters, including corporate finance, private equity, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, securities, tax, intellectual property and technology law.
Named as one of the leading corporate attorneys in Pennsylvania in the 2009 edition of Chambers USA, Harrington has established himself as one of the region’s leading technology company attorneys. He serves on the board of directors and the Strategic Advisory Board of the Eastern Technology Council. He also lectures frequently on private equity, venture capital and other issues pertinent to emerging growth companies, and since 2002 he has served as a guest lecture on emerging business topics at Villanova University School of Law.
Harrington received his LL.M. in Taxation in 1995 and his J.D. in 1994 from Villanova University School of Law. He graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. from Niagara University in 1991.
