Fox Rothschild LLP is pleased to announce that Nancy Yaffe has joined the firm as a partner in the Labor and Employment Department, resident in the Los Angeles office.
“Nancy’s knowledge of labor and employment law adds depth and breadth to the services we provide to clients from our LA office,” said Jeffrey S. Kravitz, managing partner of the Los Angeles office. “Her focus on preventive counseling is especially critical for employers now, when the rate of employment-related lawsuits against companies is climbing and government regulation of the workplace at the local, state and federal levels is increasing.”
Yaffe focuses her practice on labor and employment law counseling and litigation with an emphasis on problem prevention. She defends all types of businesses against employee claims and lawsuits involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation and wage-and-hour violations. Her clients include prominent southern California hotels, manufacturing and service providing companies and high-tech enterprises.
With the goal of helping clients prevent employment issues, Yaffe provides pre-litigation counseling and advice to clients nationwide on employment-related issues including harassment, discrimination, ADA/disability compliance, wage-and-hour issues, reduction-in-force planning including WARN Act compliance and union avoidance. She also conducts training presentations on sexual harassment prevention, labor and employee relations, new legal developments and other timely employment issues, such as the Employee Free Choice Act. Additionally, Yaffe reviews client policies and handbooks for clients to ensure legal compliance and conducts preventive audits and investigations into alleged workplace misconduct and pay practices.
Prior to joining Fox Rothschild, Yaffe was a partner in the Los Angeles office of Folger Levin & Kahn LLP.
Yaffe is a volunteer for the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles (WLALA) Sojourn Domestic Violence Legal Clinic. She is also a member of the American Bar Association, Labor and Employment Law Section; a member of the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles; a member of the Step Up Women’s Network; and program chair of Professionals in Human Resources Association (PIHRA) District 5.
Yaffe is a frequent presenter on HR and employment law issues to the PIHRA, the Los Angeles Hotels Human Resources Association (LAHHRA) and the Inland Empire Society for Human Resource Management (IESHRM). Her articles on labor and employment law have been published in the Los Angeles Daily Journal and the San Francisco Daily Journal.
Yaffe is a graduate of the University of Southern California, Gould School of Law (J.D., 1995; Graduate Certificate in the Study of Women and Men in Society, 1995) and of the University of California at Los Angeles (B.A., departmental honors, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, 1987). Prior to attending law school, she worked in the entertainment and hospitality industries.
