Tax Duo Michelle DeLappe and Norman Bruns Join Fox in Seattle

Fox Rothschild LLP is pleased to welcome Michelle DeLappe and Norman J. Bruns in Seattle as partners in the Taxation & Wealth Planning Department.

DeLappe helps clients reduce their tax exposure through effective planning, defending against assessments and pursuing refunds. She handles a broad range of state and local tax matters in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska, and has represented businesses in some of the largest property tax disputes in Washington state history. DeLappe assists with strategic planning, transactions, audits, administrative appeals and litigation, and also helps clients navigate issues involving nexus, apportionment, sales and use tax, B&O tax, real estate transfer taxes and other excise taxes and fees.

DeLappe is recognized in the 2020 Chambers USA guide for Tax Law in Washington. She is active in both the legal community and in organizations focused on state and local tax, including as a certified member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation. DeLappe is also involved with the Taxation Section of the American Bar Association and other state and local associations. She earned her LL.M. and her J.D., with honors, from the University of Washington School of Law, her M.S. from Universidad de Los Andes and her B.A., summa cum laude, from Seattle University.

Bruns has decades of experience representing clients in a range of tax matters in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska. He has handled property tax cases involving a wide variety of procedural and substantive issues across a full range of commercial, industrial and utility properties. He has extensive experience with income tax, sales/use tax, B&O tax, real estate transfer tax and other excise taxes and fees. In addition, Bruns is also trained in alternative dispute resolution processes and represents clients in resolving these matters through mediation.

Bruns serves on the Legal Committee for the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, which recognized him with the 2012 Special Recognition Award and 2004 Distinguished Service Award. He has also been involved in committee work with the taxation and alternative dispute resolution sections of the American Bar Association and state bar associations. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School and his B.A., with high honors, from the University of Iowa.

DeLappe and Bruns were previously principals with Foster Garvey PC in Seattle.
