November 4, 2019 – Press Releases

Fox Rothschild LLP is pleased to welcome Maureen R. Monaghan, who joined the firm in New York as a partner in the Taxation & Wealth Planning Department.

“Maureen’s knowledge of state, federal and international tax issues is a valuable asset to our clients, particularly those engaged in mergers and acquisitions and cross-border transactions and investments,” said Janet M. MacLeod, Fox’s New York office managing partner. “We are thrilled to welcome her.”

Monaghan advises and assists businesses with state and federal tax issues, often representing clients in civil tax matters, including administrative audits and appeals, voluntary disclosures and a variety of matters before the U.S. Tax Court. Her experience extends to international tax treaties; mergers and acquisitions and corporate reorganizations; state and local sales tax; taxation of cross-border business transactions and investments; tax-exempt and charitable organizations; and U.S. and international tax compliance.

Monaghan also regularly advises clients on U.S. tax issues in domestic and foreign private and public offerings; U.S. tax considerations related to investments in U.S. real estate; “inversion” structures; hybrid entity arrangements; business expansion into the United States from foreign jurisdictions; and advantageous business structures for U.S. tax and estate planning purposes.  She further advises charitable and other tax-exempt organizations on the application process and cross-border fund-raising issues.

Fluent in French and German, Monaghan is a member of the International Bar Association and the International Fiscal Association. She earned her LL.M. in Taxation from New York University, her J.D. from Fordham University and her B.A. from Columbia University.
