October 4, 2018 – Press Releases

Fox Rothschild LLP is excited to announce that the Philadelphia Business Journal has included three firm attorneys on its highly competitive list of the best lawyers in the Greater Philadelphia Area, an accolade that underscores the firm’s reputation for excellence throughout the region.

Fox congratulates “Best of the Bar” winners:

  • Patrick J. Egan – White-Collar Defense
  • Christopher D. Olszyk, Jr. – Intellectual Property
  • Jack Plackter – Real Estate

Selected from nearly 200 nominations, the “Best of the Bar” are chosen by the PBJ editorial board and three independent judges. The prestigious annual list recognizes the area’s top attorneys in a variety of practice areas based on their recent achievements and the impact their work has had in the business community.

Egan was recognized for his string of successes this year in a number of high-stakes cases, including a court battle against the IRS that saved his client from a $1 million penalty. In another case he has handled pro bono for more than a decade, Egan won a landmark opinion before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court that helped save the life of a death-row inmate. Egan served on the Board of the Innocence Project for nine years and now chairs the board of the Atlantic Center for Capital Representation, a nonprofit that works to ensure that lawyers handling death penalty cases in Pennsylvania have adequate access to expert witnesses and investigators.

Olszyk has earned a reputation for creative and strategic work in the area of national and international trademark rights in cases ranging from sneaker designs to craft beer. Most recently, Olszyk negotiated the contracts and licensing agreements for the 2018 Gay Games in Paris and the 2022 Gay Games in Hong Kong. His work has ensured that the Gay Games principles of inclusion, respect, diversity, equality and solidarity remain ongoing at an international level.

Plackter, the co-chair of Fox’s Zoning & Land Use Practice Group, has helped to shape the skylines of many New Jersey communities. Plackter has obtained approvals and funding for major residential, commercial and redevelopment projects, secured Atlantic City development and land use approvals for many of the major casinos and litigated key land use and environmental disputes before various courts. Plackter has built a distinguished real estate practice that extends throughout the tristate region. He also serves as the pro bono general counsel for the Greater Atlantic City Chamber of Commerce where he advises on local initiatives for growing business in the region.

The “Best of the Bar” honorees will be featured in a special edition of the Philadelphia Business Journal on October 26.
