Ashley Madison’s parent company is being flooded with class-action lawsuits with plaintiffs seeking millions of dollars in damages from the infidelity website following a hack that exposed personal information of up to 37 million customers.

According to attorneys, evidence that the “full delete” option for profiles – which customers paid a fee for – did not work as advertised is the complaint most likely to get the attention of the FTC. A review of the leaked information by The Register found that accounts that were marked as deleted still retained identifiable information.

“That’s a classic no-no from the FTC’s standpoint,” Vernick said.
