Darrell D. Miller, chair of Fox Rothschild’s Entertainment Law Department and managing partner of the firm’s Los Angeles offices, and Jody Simon, who heads the Department’s Production Company Practice Group, were selected by Variety magazine as among the year’s top dealmakers. Miller and Simon are featured in the publication’s annual Impact Report, which highlights those who work behind the scenes to help shape the industry.
This marks the second consecutive year that Miller has made this prestigious list.
Miller has more than two decades of entertainment law deal-making experience, with an emphasis on the creation of multiple streams of income for clients with high brand equity through cross-promotion of film, television, music, theatre, multimedia and licensing opportunities.
Miller recently received the 2014 Kautz Alumni Masters Forum Award from his alma mater, the University of Cincinnati, the Entertainment Innovator Award from the Black Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, and he was featured in the Los Angeles Daily Journal’s Entertainment Law Supplement that profiles the top attorneys in the entertainment industry.
Simon’s recognition comes on the heels of his selection as one of 2014’s "Most Influential Lawyers in Digital Media and E-Commerce Law" by Los Angeles Business Journal. The Variety report highlights his work with content creators, multichannel networks and production companies across the spectrum of cross-platform and television deals.
Simon is a prominent entertainment law attorney who has been helping clients in the industry produce innovative and sophisticated television and new media content for more than 25 years. Simon is a passionate advocate for his clients, negotiating deals that bring to life many of today’s popular entertainment vehicles.
Throughout his tenure as an entertainment lawyer, Simon has actively counseled his clients in nearly every type of legal matter spanning the spectrum of the industry including television, digital media outlets, publishing, live stage, live action and animated programming and graphic novels.
