Fox Rothschild Attorneys Elected to Firm’s Executive Committee

May 12, 2010 – Press Releases

Three prominent leaders at Fox Rothschild—Labor and Employment Department Co-chair James A. Matthews, III and International Practice Group Co-chair Peter J. Tucci—have recently been elected by the firm’s equity partners to the firm’s governing body, the Executive Committee.

The Committee is charged with overseeing the strategic growth of the firm. The 475-attorney firm has been successfully pursuing a program of steady expansion and recently broke into the top 100 in the National Law Journal’s survey of the 250 largest firms in the country.

“We view these elections as yet another step forward in the firm’s continued growth and success in improving and expanding the high level of services we provide to our clients,” said Mark L. Silow, administrative partner of Fox Rothschild. “Jim and Peter bring years of leadership experience that will directly benefit the firm as we continue to expand to meet the needs of our clients.”

Matthews, a partner in the firm’s Philadelphia office, has more than 25 years experience representing management in all aspects of the employment relationship, with extensive trial and appellate litigation experience in the arbitral, administrative and judicial systems. Matthews’ practice includes union organizing campaigns; collective bargaining, strikes and labor arbitration; employment discrimination and wrongful discharge issues; and the employment implications of mergers, acquisitions, relocations, and other major transactions. In law school, Matthews served as Editor-in-Chief of the Villanova Law Review and later served as law clerk to the Honorable Francis L. Van Dusen of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Matthews earned his J.D. from Villanova University School of Law and his A.B. from Duke University. He is an active member of the American Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association and Philadelphia Bar Association and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Police Athletic League of Philadelphia.

Tucci focuses his practice on a wide variety of international and corporate matters including mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, corporate finance, joint ventures and reinsurance transactions. Tucci, a partner in the firm’s Warrington (Bucks County) and Philadelphia offices, also provides general corporate representation to many public and private companies, with a particular focus on advising European companies on entering the U.S. market.

In 2005, the President of the Republic of France, Jacques Chirac, named Tucci a Chevalier (Knight) of the French Legion of Honor, which was established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802. The Legion of Honor recognizes eminent service to the Republic of France and is the country's most prestigious award. Tucci is also the president of the Philadelphia Chapter of the French-American Chamber of Commerce and sits on the Pennsylvania Advisory Board of HSBC Bank USA National Association.

Tucci is also on the Board of Directors of the London Life Reinsurance Company and is chair of the Board of Trustees of The Pennington School.

Tucci received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1986 and his B.S.F.S. from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in 1983. After graduating from law school Tucci also studied at The Hague Academy of International Law located in The Hague, the Netherlands.
