Committee Seeks Reform to State’s Clean Energy Programs, Policies

October 21, 2011 – In The News

Steve Goldenberg, who heads the newly formed Clean Energy Funding Work Group, commented on the group's first report.

In the report, the group stated that the office of Clean Energy should no longer carry over budgeted surpluses, but return the funds to ratepayers through reductions in the following years.

"This is basically a bottom-up sort of analysis of how the state has offered its energy efficiency and renewable energy programs to customers, and how the delivery system should be changed to make it more efficient to bring down the cost of the programs to consumers," said Goldenberg.

Goldenberg added that they found duplicate efforts being made in regards to the energy efficiency programs and that hiring a third-party carrier could would make controlling such such programs more efficient.
