Electronic Recording Options for Real Estate Documents

March 20, 2020Alerts

In the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, many are wondering whether real estate transactions will be hindered due to the inability to search title or record deeds, security instruments or other necessary documents. A growing number of recording offices across the country are physically closed. However, in most of these places, electronic recording (or eRecording) is still an option and online title searches are available. For a complete list of recording offices in each state that are closed and other helpful information regarding the status of these recording offices, please view this resource.

The firm's e-recording partnership with Simplifile also enables us to check the most current acceptance policies of most individual county Recorder of Deeds offices.

For any questions about e-recording options or services, please contact Catherine Mitchell at [email protected] or 704.384.2675, or any member of the firm's national Real Estate Practice.
