PA Legislature Considering Housing Trust Fund

The Pennsylvania state legislature is moving closer to adopting House Bill 60 , the “Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Act." A vote is scheduled this week in the House and has yet to be taken up by the Senate. While HB 60 contains no appropriation or revenue source, it would establish trust fund framework at the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency and designate that the National Housing Trust Fund moneys go to PHFA when received. The Commonwealth expects to receive $35 - $40 million from the National Housing Trust Fund to aid those with housing needs in the current market. A state housing trust will ensure that the funds are utilized efficiently, effectively and with accountability.
