Significant changes to federal tax law have taken place in recent years, and we expect a number of modifications over the next two years. It is possible that other political issues (immigration, trade, regulatory reform) will take precedence. But we expect that there will be additional regulatory interpretations this calendar year.
Of course, you may be concerned about more than just taxes. To provide clients with education about various estate related issues, we will provide web-based programs that focus on the income and estate tax law changes that have occurred, as well as asset protection, wealth protection opportunities and trusts and estates law updates.
In-Person Program - November 3, 2018 - 10:30 a.m.
For several years, we have recommended that most clients update their plans every five years, unless significant changes in their family (births, marriages, deaths, disabilities) or wealth picture (sudden increase or decrease in income or assets) would warrant immediate review of plan details. This suggestion for review derives from our observation that:
- Many clients seek an annual review of their plan
- Most clients would like us to review their titling of assets
- Some clients seek to make amendments, such as changing trustees and beneficiaries
- Some clients simply wish to notify us of changes in the family or financial situation
Based on these concerns, we will provide an in-person program in November that will focus solely on changes in laws affecting trusts and wills, properly titling assets into trust (funding) and proposed amendments. This will likely be a breakfast or brunch meeting. Please save the date and location: Saturday, November 3, 2018 – 10:30 a.m. – Fox Rothschild LLP, 345 California Street, Suite 2200, San Francisco, CA 94104.
