Biography
Chris is a transactional attorney who counsels businesses, institutional investors and individuals on corporate, real estate and financial services matters.
He represents a diverse client base that includes commercial developers, national homebuilders, master-planned community developers, commercial landlords and tenants, resort and gaming operators, energy companies, transaction principals, capital partners, borrowers and high-net-worth individuals.
Chris handles all stages of a transaction, from structuring and term sheet negotiation through diligence, title and survey review, approvals, closings and post-closing agreements. His practice spans commercial acquisitions and dispositions, large-scale residential and mixed-use development, commercial leasing, land use and zoning, like-kind exchanges and other tax-advantaged transaction structures, and ancillary agreements. He also regularly structures and negotiates financing transactions, including real estate-secured loans, bridge and construction financings, joint ventures, capital partnerships, preferred equity arrangements and deferred purchase price structures.
Additionally, Chris supports clients with loan workouts, corporate and financial restructurings, receiverships, bankruptcy proceedings, tenant defaults, pre-litigation dispute resolution, estate planning and regulatory compliance.
Before Fox Rothschild
A former summer associate, Chris joined us on a full-time basis after earning his law degree.
During law school, he was the Forum Editor of the University of Colorado Law Review, where he also authored legal scholarship on labor and constitutional law issues. He spent a semester studying international taxation and transnational business law at La Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid, Spain.
Chris is a former professional baseball player whose career included pitching for the Toronto Blue Jays, Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres, and Minnesota Twins. In 2017, he became the first West Point graduate to play in Major League Baseball. He also previously served in the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant.

- Representation of gaming and resort operators in land use, real estate and receivership matters involving large-scale resort and casino properties in Nevada, including asset management and recovery.
- Negotiations and documentation of commercial and real estate loan facilities on behalf of institutional and private borrowers, including bridge financings and construction loans.
- Counsel of Chapter 11 debtors in connection with real estate and corporate matters during bankruptcy proceedings.
- Reorganizations of corporate and financial structures for national entities, including subsidiaries and various stock, asset and real property transfers.
- Restructurings of corporate entities for national homebuilders, including organizational and asset realignment.
- Representation of national and local residential and mixed-use homebuilders and developers in acquisitions and dispositions totaling more than $450 million.
- Counsel on energy asset acquisitions and royalty interest transactions in multiple basins totaling over $300 million.
- Acquisition of an $80 million mixed-use development and like-kind exchange in Salt Lake City, Utah.
- Disposition of an $80 million distribution facility in Arizona.
- Representation of institutional and private landlords in commercial leasing transactions across multiple states.
- Reorganization of personal and trust assets and estate planning for an individual client with more than $750 million in assets.
