Cynthia Katz and Heidy Vaquerano Named to Billboard Magazine’s Women in Music List
Fox Rothschild congratulates Partners Cynthia L. Katz and Heidy Vaquerano, who were selected to Billboard magazine’s 2024 Women in Music list.
The annual list recognizes “music’s rising artists, creators, producers and executives for their contributions to the industry and community.”
Noted as “longtime entertainment deal-makers,” Katz and Vaquerano, together with their partners, “collectively handled nearly $1 billion in music transactions this past year alone, helping to shape the market.”
The duo represented HarbourView Equity Partners on “high-profile acquisitions of recording and publishing catalogues, including works from Fleetwood Mac’s Christine McVie, country star Kane Brown, hip-hop artist blackbear and rapper Wiz Khalifa.”
Vaquerano also negotiated Tom DeLonge’s return to blink-182 after a decade hiatus from the pop-punk band.
Katz is a seasoned corporate and intellectual property attorney who negotiates deals and solves problems for clients in a range of industries, particularly entertainment and music. With a decade of experience in the music industry, including working in-house at a major record label, she advises businesses and artists in the sale and purchase of music assets (publishing and master recording catalogs, etc.) and music companies; counsels music startups on fundraising; represents music labels in restructuring efforts; and helps clients structure and negotiate a wide range of deals related to all aspects of the entertainment industry including music publishing and recording agreements.
Vaquerano is an experienced entertainment attorney who provides advice and representation on a broad range of intellectual property and transactional matters. Clients in the music industry rely on her to negotiate music publishing and recording agreements, master use and synchronization licenses, marketing and promotion agreements, as well as work for hire agreements, merchandising agreements and production agreements. Vaquerano counsels businesses and artists in the buying and selling of music catalogs, encompassing publishing, sound recordings and neighboring rights. She also handles a wide range of deals related to all aspects of live tours as well as copyright, trademark and name and likeness licensing.
