Environmental, Social and Governance - What You Need to Know Now 2023
A panel of ESG practitioners will address and discuss the following topics:
• ESG 101 – a brief primer for those new to ESG; what is ESG and does it matter; who are the relevant stakeholders; and how does ESG impact both public and private companies.
• ESG legal requirements in the United States – a deep dive into the SEC’s new climate disclosure rule [or the proposed rule if the final rule is not approved by 10/24]; a review of other SEC legal requirements related to ESG; and a discussion of how ESG developments in the European Union can impact U.S. companies.
• ESG in practical terms – how do companies address ESG risks; how to respond to requests for ESG data; how to determine what data to disclose; how data is collected and reported; and what are companies doing to address gaps in their ESG programs/readiness profile.
• ESG litigation landscape – a discussion of recent cases from across the country that highlight the risks of making ESG-related disclosures and lessons learned.
