Fox Rothschild welcomes George C.D. Duke to the New York office as a partner in the Environmental Department.

“George leverages his background in hydrogeology and environmental science to solve complex land development and regulatory problems for his clients,” said E. Bradley Gould, Managing Partner of the firm’s New York office. “His ability to translate technical knowledge into effective legal strategies will greatly benefit businesses navigating complex environmental and land use laws.”

Duke advises clients on the environmental and regulatory aspects of corporate and real estate transactions, land development, permitting, and mine reclamation and expansion projects. He is particularly adept at guiding clients through the purchase and redevelopment of brownfield sites. He assists business clients in site acquisition and due diligence, construction and related project development agreements, project financing, and tax mitigation and development incentives.

Duke also handles environmental enforcement actions pertaining to solid waste, wetlands, petroleum and chemical bulk storage facilities, and various commercial and industrial facilities. A former project manager and hydrogeologist for a national environmental consulting firm, he has a detailed understanding of the basis for environmental legal determinations.

A leader in environmental law, he writes and speaks regularly on topics such as site remediation, brownfield redevelopment, New York’s State Environmental Quality Review Act, the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (Superfund), the Build Act and professional responsibility.

Duke earned his J.D. from Pace University School of Law, his M.S. from Montclair State University and his B.A. from Franklin & Marshall College.

Prior to joining Fox, Duke was a partner at Connell Foley.
