Large Load Impacts and Policy Approaches in North Carolina

Executive Order 23 established the North Carolina Energy Policy Task Force, whose initial charge is to examine electricity load growth and provide recommendations on how the state should address this. The Task Force will release its first report in February 2026, including initial recommendations on load growth. This panel will discuss the findings of the Task Force, as well as the North Carolina Utilities Commission's large load proceeding and other activities in the state considering electricity load growth. This session will focus on the potential opportunities and challenges of load growth in the state, as well as policy and regulatory approaches to address these.
