Franchisor-franchisee conflict can permeate almost every part of the franchise relationship, from disclosure to exclusive territories and to labor relations, remodeling, menu prices, required suppliers, marketing and advertising support, and to restrictive covenants. Although stakeholders’ views regarding this conflict are usually deeply held, they are also ill-defined, non-specific, and emotional. This panel will strive to better understand the genesis, magnitude, causes and characteristics of this conflict, and whether and how it might be possible to permanently limit or resolve this conflict.
