Equus Capital Partners Honored with Brownfield Redevelopment Phoenix Award
Fox Rothschild LLP congratulates firm client Equus Capital Partners on its receipt of the Region 3 Brownfield Redevelopment Phoenix Award, which recognizes projects across the country focused solely on brownfields as an essential function of planning, economic and community development and environmental quality.
The award-winning project, The Knitting Mills, is a 53-acre mixed-use development in Wyomissing, PA known for “its iconic setting, historic architecture and unparalleled access to amenities, including parks, recreation, museums, housing and medical services.”
Fox partner Joel Bolstein handled the environmental work relating to the acquisition and redevelopment of the property, which included working with Equus Capital Partners and outside consultants at Environmental Standards to perform the necessary environmental due diligence and take the site through the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s brownfield redevelopment process, known as Act 2.
“The Knitting Mills is a classic brownfield redevelopment site where blue jean and apparel manufacturing was done more than 100 years before the plant shut down and became a vacant, underutilized space,” said Bolstein. “Act 2 has given the site new life, new jobs and economic activity that is a real benefit to the local community. I’m proud of my contribution to that effort, and the fact the project has now won the Region 3 Phoenix Award is a testament to the vision of Equus Capital Partners in being a national leader in brownfield redevelopment.”
