Biography
Matt advises individuals, families and business owners on tax structuring and wealth preservation matters.
He handles:
- Estate planning.
- Estate and trust administration.
- Estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax planning.
- Succession planning for private fund, real estate and closely held business interests.
Matt also designs and implements sophisticated wealth-transfer strategies that align tax efficiency with his clients’ long-term family and philanthropic objectives.
Before Fox Rothschild
Before joining us, Matthew practiced at a boutique New York law firm, where he advised fund sponsors and institutional investors on the formation and operation of private equity, private credit, venture capital, real estate and hedge fund structures across U.S. and international jurisdictions. He began his legal career in Silicon Valley, representing fund managers and venture-backed companies in corporate, financing and M&A transactions.
While earning his law degree at the University of Virginia School of Law, Matthew was a Staff Editor for the Virginia Law and Business Review and Director of Sponsorships for the Emerging Company and Venture Capital Society.
Beyond Fox Rothschild
Matthew serves as a Senior Staff Editor for the Tax Law Review while completing his LL.M. in Taxation at the New York University School of Law.
A lifelong musician, Matthew founded and played keyboard and trumpet in his law school band, Panic at the District Court!, and performs in various bands and informal jam sessions. A devoted trivia enthusiast, he was also a Jeopardy! Champion (2016).
