Fox Rothschild congratulates Maureen Demarest Murray, who received a 2025 Citizen Lawyer Award from the North Carolina Bar Association.

The award recognizes attorneys who “exemplify the ideals of a citizen lawyer by volunteering their time for worthy community or civic causes to improve the quality of life of those in their local or statewide communities” and “whose longstanding commitment and dedication to their volunteering inspire other lawyers to invest their time and talents in service-oriented activities.”

Co-Chair of the firm’s national Health Law Practice Group, Murray represents health care providers in regulatory matters and appeals, business transactions, medical staff and peer review matters, reimbursement appeals, fraud and abuse investigations and business disputes. Clients rely on Murray to help them navigate urgent situations involving patient care and crises for their business.

Murray serves as board secretary for The Arc of Greensboro, a local non-profit dedicated to helping children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through advocacy, services, programs and education.

She was previously on the Advisory Board of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro School of Nursing, the Associate Advisory Committee for the North Carolina Health Care Facilities Association, the board of Horsepower, a therapeutic riding program, and president of two parent teacher organizations.
