Peter F. Kelly led the Fox Rothschild corporate team that represented KONA I Co. Ltd. (KOSDAQ), a public South Korean fintech and smart card company, in its acquisition of Protec Secure Card (PSC) LLC, a U.S.-based card manufacturing and issuance center — a strategic transaction that expands KONA I’s presence and capabilities in the U.S. market.

KONA I formed wholly owned subsidiary KONA America Holdings, Inc. to complete the purchase, making PSC an indirect U.S. subsidiary. The acquisition gives KONA I a domestic platform with the scale to serve customers across major card networks, while positioning the company to respond effectively to evolving trade conditions.

KONA I pioneered South Korea’s transportation card system and now provides globally certified smart card, digital payment, identification, mobility and blockchain solutions across the finance, telecommunications and public sectors. In recent years, KONA I realized tremendous success in the U.S. premium metal card market serving leading global issuers such as American Express and others.

Based in New Jersey, PSC is an international manufacturer and issuer of financial cards with annual production capacity of approximately 50 million cards, serving hundreds of customers across Visa, American Express, Mastercard and other card networks.

The Fox team included Meghan Currie and Aaron S. Mapes.
