Fox Rothschild Named to Bloomberg Law’s Inaugural Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Framework
Fox Rothschild LLP is honored to be included among Bloomberg Law’s 2021 list of law firms that meet or exceed an established threshold of diversity, equity and inclusion.
This first-ever survey was collaboratively developed by Bloomberg Law and Bloomberg L.P. and assessed law firm efforts related to: recruitment and retention; leadership and talent pipeline; business strategy and innovation; firm demographics; diversity and inclusion; and marketing.
“It is humbling to see our efforts coming to fruition and to have our firm be included on this prestigious list,” said Kimberly Bullock Gatling, Fox’s Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer. “Bloomberg has thoughtfully crafted a way to standardize the measurement of inclusion using tangible data, which is a tremendous stabilizer for firms. While there is still much work to be done in DEI, these benchmarks provide a foundation upon which we can build and continue to move the needle forward in this critical area.”
Throughout the past year, Fox Rothschild has implemented numerous programs and initiatives aimed at fostering an inclusive environment both within the firm and the community.
Included among those initiatives are:
- Joined Diversity Lab’s Mansfield Rule 5.0, which aims to boost the representation of diverse lawyers in law firm leadership and governance roles by broadening the pool of candidates considered for those opportunities.
- Through participating in this program, Fox will ensure that at least 30 percent of those considered for leadership and governance roles, equity partner promotions, formal client pitch opportunities and senior lateral positions are women, lawyers of color, LGBTQ+ lawyers and lawyers with disabilities.
- Adopted the Inclusion Blueprint, a first-of-its-kind tool created by Diversity Lab and ChIPs, to measure inclusion actions at both the leadership and practice group levels to ensure that historically underrepresented lawyers have equal access to quality work, influential sponsors and clients, as well as other opportunities.
- Implemented a policy offering its attorneys credit for up to 50 billable hours per fiscal year for activities related to diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Donated $25,000 each to the Innocence Project and Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and launched a firmwide pro bono initiative partnering with organizations throughout the country that supported Black communities by targeting aid to Black-owned businesses and addressing issues of inequity in housing, criminal justice and entrepreneurism.
Fox is one of 28 firms featured on this inaugural list. The full report is available here.
