Fox Rothschild LLP congratulates Heidy Vaquerano on her selection to Variety’s list of New Leaders, which recognizes Hollywood’s rising talent in law, music, film and television.

A first-generation college graduate and daughter of immigrants, Vaquerano landed her first job in the industry at the age of 19 – an internship at a boutique entertainment law firm – which allowed her to hit the ground running after law school.

Early on in her career, Vaquerano anticipated that technology was going to play an important role in the way entertainment was created and consumed. Noticing a gap between the two areas in the legal industry, she quickly dove in. Upon joining Fox Rothschild’s Entertainment & Sports Law team, she became the point person for negotiating NFT, web3 and blockchain deals. She has since struck deals for clients with top NFT platforms Ethernity and Yellow Heart and has advised clients in launching metaverse properties or setting up DAOs.

“NFTs, Web3, blockchain and the metaverse will all become just as common as what we use the internet to do now. We’re just at that infancy stage. The sooner people get involved, educate themselves and start using it, the more we will benefit from it,” said Vaquerano in an interview with Variety.

She is also at the forefront of a major shift in the music industry as major recording artists sell their music catalogs to diversify revenue streams. For HarbourView Equity Partners, a global investment firm that launched in 2021, Vaquerano has closed multiple deals, including the recent acquisitions of Brad Paisley’s master recordings and Lady A’s publishing song catalog.
