Michael Sweet Appointed to California Citizens Compensation Commission
Fox Rothschild LLP congratulates Michael A. Sweet, who was appointed by Gov. Gavin Newsom to a six-year term as Chair of the California Citizens Compensation Commission.
Sweet will work with the Commission to set the salaries and benefits of California’s constitutional officers as well as members of the State Legislature.
As Chair of the firm’s Financial Restructuring & Bankruptcy Department, Sweet leads a nationwide team that provides sophisticated, strategic guidance in corporate restructurings and bankruptcy litigation as well as in non-bankruptcy insolvency-related matters.
A leader in the industry, Sweet is recognized by Chambers USA as a leading attorney for Bankruptcy/Restructuring in California and was named a Trailblazer in the West by The American Lawyer.
Sweet also serves as a member of the San Francisco Human Rights Commission and is the President of the California Bankruptcy Forum. Additionally, he is the past president of the California Jewish Political Action Committee and the Raoul Wallenberg San Francisco Jewish Democratic Club.
He earned his J.D. from the University of California Los Angeles School of Law and his B.A., cum laude, from Brandeis University.
