Fox Rothschild LLP is pleased to welcome R. Taylor Speer to the Greenville office as counsel in the Litigation Department and Energy & Natural Resources Practice.

“Taylor is immersed in the energy market and is on the front lines of the climate change movement, working with clients to develop renewable energy sources and establish the Carolinas as a leader in sustainability,” said Frank C. Williams, Fox’s Greenville office managing partner. “We are thrilled to welcome him to the firm.”

Speer has represented a diverse group of clients, including major ratepayers, solar developers and special interests, in multiday trials before the South Carolina Public Service Commission and appeared in Duke Energy's first-ever fully-litigated Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) trial in South Carolina. He frequently contributes to the public dialogue on clean energy and has been cited as an authority on environmental issues pending before the United States Supreme Court.

Beyond the energy sector, Speer works closely with employers to protect their interests in litigation involving allegations of sexual harassment, retaliation, discrimination as well as violations of fair-housing, wage-and-hour, immigration and consumer protection laws. He also helps employers access global talent through IR and EB green card applications and nonimmigrant visas for employees.

Speer is a member of the Green Ribbon Advisory Committee for the City of Greenville, which advises on the development of programs and initiatives including the Sustainability and Climate Action Plan aimed at reducing the City's environmental impact. He is also a member of E4 Carolinas, a trade association dedicated to cultivating a collaborative Carolina energy cluster to accelerate economic growth, efficient resources and care for the environment. Speer serves on E4 Carolinas’ South Carolina clean energy task force.

He earned his J.D. from Florida Coastal School of Law and B.S. from the University of Colorado Leeds School of Business.
