Fox Rothschild congratulates Carol E. Thorstad-Forsyth on being named to South Florida Business & Wealth magazine’s 2024 class of Prestigious Women.

The annual award recognizes women in South Florida who “lead and inspire [the] regional business and philanthropic communities through their careers, mentorship, and generosity.”

Thorstad-Forsyth, a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property Department, guides market leaders in global communications, consumer goods, defense contracting and software solutions on how to best protect their intellectual property.

She leverages a background in electrical engineering to assist clients with patent search studies, infringement studies, patentability and (in)validity and freedom-to-operate studies as well as patent reexaminations and IP due diligence related to software, electronic and mechanical inventions. Her patent practice supports businesses on the cutting edge of military and consumer-grade technology.

Thorstad-Forsyth is a founding member and Co-Chair of the Florida chapter of Chiefs in Intellectual Property (ChIPs). The nonprofit organization provides networking and educational programming and works to connect women in technology, law and policy.

She also serves as Vice Chair of the Membership Committee for the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), where she works alongside the board to set strategic goals and establish initiatives aimed at expanding membership and increasing active participation within the organization.

An advocate for women attorneys, Thorstad-Forsyth previously served as Chair of AIPLA’s Women in IP Committee, which brings awareness and understanding of women’s issues in IP and previously chaired the group’s Outreach subcommittee.
