Fox Rothschild congratulates Cynthia L. Katz and Heidy Vaquerano, who were among 55 attorneys nationwide named to The Hollywood Reporter’s 2026 Top Music Lawyers list, which recognizes the music industry’s “heavyweights behind the hitmakers,” who are the “premier attorneys behind the year’s biggest defining moves in music.”

Vaquerano, co-chair of the firm’s Entertainment & Sports Law Department, and Katz, the Entertainment & Sports Law Department’s Practice Managing Partner, represented HarbourView Equity Partners, a major player in premium entertainment content investments, “through one of the most talked-about deals of the year: the acquisition of its compositions written by Swedish collective Wolf Cousins, founded by Max Martin and Shellback, which includes hits released by Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift.”

The duo also worked with HarbourView in its acquisition of select assets of recorded music and publishing catalogs, film and TV assets from the estate of Quincy Jones, including the Michael Jackson catalog.

When asked by The Hollywood Reporter what the industry will look like five years from now, Katz noted that, “The core legal battle will be defining ownership and compensation with AI is involved in the creative process to prevent market devaluation from AI-generated content.” She concluded by saying, “The deals we structure today must account for an entirely new layer of IP protection.”
