Biography
A skilled litigator, Richard represents clients in state and federal court in a broad range of commercial disputes.
Richard has represented clients in matters involving:
- Health care provider-payer disputes, class action defense, health care fraud and ERISA.
- Advising HR departments in a range of employment issues including terminations, hiring, discrimination claims, wage and hour lawsuits.
- Breach of contract.
- Government investigations, including the Department of Labor.
- Employment and noncompetition agreements.
- Insurance coverage.
- Commercial construction litigation.
- Commercial landlord-tenant disputes.
- Trademark and copyright protection.
- Dissolution proceedings and partnership disputes.
Before Fox Rothschild
During law school, Richard served as an intern in the Bureau of Consumer Protection in the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. He was also a summer associate at Fox Rothschild and a law clerk at an East Coast-based law firm, where he represented commercial clients in lending actions. Additionally, he served as a litigation paralegal at a New York firm and as a legislative intern in the Connecticut General Assembly. Richard was also the Executive Editor of the Temple Political and Civil Rights Law Journal, where he published a comment discussing the expansion of New Jersey’s sexual harassment laws.
Beyond Fox Rothschild
Richard is passionate about giving back. He serves on the board of Collective Climb, an organization focused on empowering teens in Philadelphia by providing restorative justice diversion programs and training in restorative justice practices. He regularly provides pro bono services to the Pennsylvania Innocence Project, which works to exonerate the wrongly convicted, and has represented indigent inmates in civil rights actions before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Richard has also done pro bono work for the Anti-Defamation League and the Wills for Heroes Foundation, which provides estate planning services to military veterans and first responders.
Richard has completed FINRA’s Arbitrator Training Program and appears on the active roster of arbitrators who are available to hear disputes brought before the FINRA arbitration panel.
