This session will open with a quick spin of the wheel through central assessment basics including the approaches to value (which are different from those used in local assessment) and appointment. The speakers will also share observations about how various states roll the dice with capitalization rates. Then, they will up the ante by providing an update into major case law developments during the last year. Finally, they will cash out with practical tips for when to hold them, fold them, or just leave the table when negotiating with government appraisers and discuss slow plays and other traps for the unwary regarding the idiosyncrasies in the central assessment procedures.
