Biography
Ariel focuses her practice on state and local tax planning and controversies, appellate advocacy and commercial litigation.
She guides businesses and nonprofits through all stages of disputes, from pre-litigation strategy through trial and appeal, in a variety of venues including federal and state courts. Ariel takes a thorough and analytical approach to resolving complex matters, whether they involve constitutional questions, statutory interpretation or novel factual challenges.
Ariel also counsels clients on state and local tax planning and disputes, including property tax, sales and use tax, and B&O tax matters. She draws on her experience as a judicial clerk at the Washington State Supreme Court to bring precise legal analysis and persuasive advocacy to every engagement.
Before Fox Rothschild
A former Summer Associate, Ariel joined us full-time after completing a clerkship for the Honorable Charles W. Johnson of the Washington State Supreme Court.
During law school, Ariel competed in many moot court and mock trial competitions, earning the title of regional champion in both the ABA National Appellate Advocacy moot court competition and the American Association for Justice Student Trial Advocacy mock trial competition. Ariel was also active in student leadership positions, founding both the Family Law Society and the Advocacy Training Society before serving as inaugural president in both organizations. She was awarded the Dean's Medal in recognition of her wholistic skills in leadership and advocacy, and the Pro Bono Pledge Award in recognition of her commitment to community service.
Ariel first entered the legal field while earning her undergraduate degree. She worked her way from administrative assistant to Chief Operating Officer at a small family law firm in Tacoma, Washington. During law school, she clerked at a boutique law firm in Seattle.
Beyond Fox Rothschild
Ariel takes pride in being an active community advocate outside of her work at the firm. She serves as a volunteer attorney with several legal services organizations, including Entre Hermanos, the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project and Kids in Need of Defense. Ariel also takes an active role in mentorship of future lawyers, coaching law students in moot court and mock trial for regional law school competitions.
