Illinois recently became the first state in the country to legalize a commercial recreational cannabis market through its legislature.

The measure will allow incumbent medical cannabis licensees to begin adult-use sales on January 1, 2020. Dozens of additional grower, processing and retail licenses will be issued later in 2020 and 2021.
