Fox Rothschild LLP congratulates Emanuel Clark and Catherine B. Mitchell, who were named to the North Carolina Lawyers Weekly 2021 Rising Stars list.

This biennial award recognizes lawyers who have been out of law school for 10 years or less and have already made a strong impact in the legal community.

A partner in the firm’s Corporate Department, Clark advises clients on M&A transactions, private offerings of debt and equity securities in connection with private equity and venture capital financings, and a variety of commercial transactions and corporate governance matters. In one matter that will have a lasting impact on the Greensboro community, Clark along with Fox attorney David Kyger, counseled The Bell House with respect to making the charitable gift of its former facilities to Creative Aging Network- NC and HandyCapable. Under North Carolina law, The Bell House’s gift was substantial enough to require approval from the North Carolina Attorney General’s Office. Clark worked alongside The Bell House and its agents to obtain the AG’s approval and ultimately close the transfer of the facilities.

A leader in the community, Clark was selected as a member of Leadership Greensboro, a yearlong citywide program designed to promote team building and leadership qualities, which he completed in 2020. He is active with the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce where he serves on its Board of Directors and serves on the Board of Greensboro Downtown Parks Inc., a nonprofit that serves as the executive management of Greensboro’s downtown parks.

He earned his J.D. from Duke University School of Law and B.A. from Davidson College.

Mitchell, a partner in Fox’s Real Estate Department, represents developers, landlords, tenants, and lenders in commercial real estate transactions. She handles the full range of the development process, including acquisition, reciprocal easements, construction and an array of financing such as bond financing, USDA-backed loans, SBA loans and complex commercial mortgage-backed securities. She is experienced in representing landlords in the leasing of retail and office space to national and regional tenants as well as health care companies, national and regional banking institutions and life insurance companies.

Mitchell serves on the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA) Real Property Section Council, where she chairs the Annual Meeting Committee and contributes to drafting and commenting on proposed state legislation and regulations. She is a member of the Charlotte chapter of the Commercial Real Estate Women Network, which offers professional and personal advancement opportunities to women in the community.

Within Fox, Mitchell is active within the Women’s Initiative, where she moderates and participates in monthly meetings intended to encourage and promote female attorneys.  She is also a member of the Firm’s Real Estate CLE Committee.

She earned her J.D., cum laude, from Mercer University School of Law and B.A. in History from Sewanee: The University of the South.
