As a testament to his unwavering dedication to service that benefits a diverse and underrepresented community, Fox Rothschild attorney JT Schuweiler has been selected by Chambers USA as the 2023 Diversity and Inclusion Future Leader.

The Chambers USA D&I award series celebrates the tremendous achievements of “individuals who are furthering the advancement of diversity, inclusion, pro bono and sustainability across the USA.”

Schuweiler is recognized for his “outstanding work supporting diverse and underrepresented start-up founders through Lunar Startups.... Through his work, he has provided pro bono services that have had a significant ripple effect on revenue, fundraising and job creation for minority-owned businesses.”

Schuweiler first began working in 2019 with Lunar Startups, a Twin Cities nonprofit organization that supports growth, connection and innovation for entrepreneurs who identify as Black, Indigenous, People of Color, LGBTQ, women and nonbinary. He formed a partnership between Lunar and Fox Rothschild through which he and other attorneys have worked pro bono with numerous Minneapolis-based startups to create 105 new, high-quality jobs, raise $4.6 million in capital and help those companies achieve $11.9 million collectively in revenue.

He is also an active member of the firm’s LGBTQ & Allies Initiative, which works closely with Fox’s Diversity Committee to ensure the firm is a welcoming workplace for all and a model for inclusiveness and acceptance.

At Fox, Schuweiler builds value for a wide array of corporate and cannabis clients, providing guidance and representation on issues from entity formation to daily operations to exit transactions. He advises on complex secured and unsecured corporate finance transactions, including asset-backed lending and securitizations and frequently advises cannabis companies on debt financing and mergers and acquisitions.
