Fox Rothschild welcomes Stephen A. Aschettino as chair of the firm’s newly formalized Fintech & Digital Assets Practice in the New York Office. Aschettino will also co-chair its Financial Services Industry Group.

“Rapid technological and regulatory advances in digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, digital assets and payment systems have accelerated innovation within the Fintech sector, creating tremendous growth opportunities,” said Dianna G. El Hioum, Fox’s Chief Growth Strategist. “Stephen has established himself as a go-to legal adviser to companies in this dynamic space. Our clients will benefit greatly from his experience and knowledge.”

Aschettino is a business lawyer and trial attorney with more than 30 years of experience at the intersection of financial technology, regulatory compliance and complex commercial litigation. He counsels a diverse range of clients — from Fortune 500 companies and global financial institutions to emerging Fintech startups — on the legal and regulatory complexities of the global payments and digital assets landscape.

“Fintech continues to be an area where technology often outpaces regulatory clarity. But Fox has developed a multifaceted practice that helps clients navigate the complex, and often clashing, global regulatory frameworks overlaying this ecosystem,” said Aschettino. “I'm thrilled to lead this forward-thinking team and help expand our capabilities as we support our clients’ growth and innovation.”

A veteran of the payments industry, Aschettino has lead Fintech practices at global law firms and previously served as Chief Legal Officer to a leading payment processor. This in-house perspective enables him to provide practical, business-oriented solutions for clients navigating digital transformation, blockchain-based initiatives and global payment systems.

Aschettino earned his J.D. from American University, Washington College of Law and his B.S. from Cornell University. A frequent speaker and author of articles on payments, blockchain and cybersecurity issues, he is also a sought-after source for technology and financial journalists covering the industry.
