Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how lawyers research, draft, review documents, manage matters, and advise clients. The practical portion of this program will examine the use of AI across litigation and transactional practice, including legal research, contract review, discovery, drafting, deposition preparation, email triage, meeting transcription, and the management of outside counsel. Attendees will learn how to evaluate AI tools, structure effective workflows, verify AI-generated work, and implement appropriate safeguards while maintaining human oversight.

The ethics portion will address lawyers’ obligations when using AI under ABA Model Rules 1.1, 1.3, 1.4, and 1.6, together with relevant state and local bar guidance and ABA Formal Opinion 512. Topics will include competence, diligence, client communication, confidentiality, attorney-client privilege, supervision, verification of AI-generated work, hallucinations, data security, and lawyer accountability.
