Fox Rothschild Clears Way for Rick Ross Bike and Car Show
With rap icon Rick Ross’ second annual bike and car show facing opposition, Fox Rothschild Partner Leron Rogers led a team of attorneys who problem-solved with city officials in Fayette, Georgia to ensure their client’s June 3rd event would go on.
With event planning for the high-profile show underway months in advance, the team was unexpectedly denied a conditional use permit by the Fayette County Department of Planning and Zoning, which cited concerns about traffic, noise and safety after some neighbors signed a petition opposing the issuance of the permit and then sued the County Commissioners to prevent a permit from being issued.
Rogers responded to the Planning and Zoning Department, outlining how it had improperly denied his client a permit and worked with municipal and law enforcement officials to smooth the way for the event, explaining Ross’ extensive plan to address their concerns around the issues of traffic and safety by investing in offsite parking and shuttle services, bringing in an event planning company and hiring 250 security officers for this year’s gathering.
Simultaneously, an Atlanta office litigation team of Jordan Forman, Gerald Chichester and John Rose filed a motion to intervene in the residents’ lawsuit against the County Commissioners. Rogers appeared at an expedited hearing and coordinated defenses with the County and the judge dismissed the action altogether.
Through strategic legal practice, public advocacy and negotiating skill, Rogers and his team were able to bring all sides to the table and eliminate the threat of litigation and clear the road for their client’s popular annual event.
