Biography
Jacob is a patent agent with a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry. He assists clients in the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications as well as assists in patentability, validity, infringement, freedom-to-operate analyses, and in the preparation of invalidity/non-infringement opinions.
His technical experience includes synthesis, characterization and reactivity of small molecules featuring s- and p-block elements of the periodic table. He has made scholarly contributions relating to CH activation, hydrogen storage, beryllium chemistry and bismuth chemistry.
Before Fox Rothschild
Prior to joining Fox Rothschild, Jacob was a technical specialist in Sterne Kessler Goldstein and Fox's Biotechnology & Chemical Practice Group, where he prepared invalidity and non-infringement opinions and notice letters for generic pharmaceutical companies filing Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDA). He also assisted in preparing and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications.
Jacob earned his Ph.D. in chemistry. His research focused on using novel synthetic methods to access highly reactive organometallic molecules featuring main-group elements. These molecules are relevant to a wide range of energy-related problems such as catalysis and hydrogen storage. He also designed several new classes of organometallic complexes, including carbodicarbene (CDC) beryllium metallocycles and CDC bismaalkene cations. During his time as a graduate student, he coauthored more than 14 scientific publications including an independently written article for the Encyclopedia of Inorganic and Bioinorganic Chemistry. Jacob was awarded the American Chemical Society's prestigious Division of Inorganic Chemistry Young Investigator’s Award.
