John has more than two decades of commercial real estate experience in representing institutional clients and sophisticated investors in various aspects of commercial real estate transactions. He has overseen more than $1 billion in annual real estate acquisitions and financing transactions as lead counsel.

A seasoned negotiator with a record of closing major real estate and business deals, John brings a deep understanding of the industry, extensive experience and a track record of successful transactions. He handles matters across the U.S. involving:

Before Fox Rothschild

John joined us from a boutique South Florida law firm where he was a shareholder. Before that, he served as head of the Real Estate and Hospitality Group at a Florida firm. He previously practiced in the Miami office of a national firm and has served as in-house counsel for a national property holding company.

  • Conducted due diligence, negotiated and closed the purchase and sale of diverse property types such as office parks, shopping centers and development sites for an international investment fund.
  • Negotiated shopping center leases with big box retail tenants, major restaurants and national grocery chains for a large developer.
  • Prepared and negotiated purchase and sale agreements, brokerage agreements, property management agreements, licensing agreements, declarations, REAs and other land use documents for landmark projects in Florida.
  • Negotiated and closed purchase money and construction loans on behalf of a regional bank.
  • Represented commercial borrowers in matters concerning loan restructurings and dispositions of troubled assets.
  • Counseled restaurant owners in connection with the sale of nationally branded restaurants to private equity groups.
  • Represented large landowners in negotiation of leases for the installation of solar energy facilities.
