Biography
Josh is an entertainment lawyer who centers his practice on the music industry. He represents musicians and songwriters in negotiations and serves as outside counsel to independent record labels and distributors.
He is experienced in clearing records for release and in drafting and negotiating:
- recording agreements
- publishing agreements
- producer agreements
- side-artist agreements
- mixer agreements
Josh's experience includes transactional work on substantial music catalog sales. His knowledge of music agreements and how royalties work in the music industry enables him to guide the due diligence efforts required in major catalog transactions.
Before Fox Rothschild
Prior to joining Fox, Josh worked in the in-house counsel office at Warner Music Group, a global entertainment and record label. His work centered on drafting and negotiating executive employment agreements and other employment documents, as well as separation agreements and independent contractor agreements.
During law school, Josh held internships in the legal department at Epic Records, Sony Music Entertainment and BBC Worldwide Americas. He also worked in the New York office of a boutique entertainment law firm. He was also a business and legal affairs coordinator at The Orchard, a music, film and video distribution company.
At NYU, Josh earned a Bachelor in Music degree with an emphasis on the business of music.
