Charlotte Business Journal Names La-Deidre Matthews to 40 Under 40 List
Fox Rothschild congratulates La-Deidre D. Matthews, who was named to the 2024 class of 40 Under 40 honorees by the Charlotte Business Journal.
The annual list features 40 individuals under the age of 40 who are making a difference in the Charlotte region.
Matthews, an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department, employs her advocacy skills to champion diversity, equity and inclusion issues. She is a founding member of the Board of Directors for Great Opportunities and Boundless Innovations for Girls, an all-girls STEM-focused public charter elementary school. She also previously served on the Mecklenburg County Bar’s Pipeline Programming Subcommittee, where she helped plan and participated in the organization’s annual Diversity Conference.
A rising star in the profession, Matthews was accepted to the highly competitive Mecklenburg County Bar’s Leadership Institute, which annually admits about 20 individuals viewed by the Bar with high leadership potential.
In her legal practice, she is trusted by her clients to provide forward-thinking guidance on land use, zoning and real estate matters as well as litigation disputes for clients in the private, government and municipal sectors.
One of the youngest members of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Zoning, Planning & Land Use Council, Matthews also serves as its DEI liaison, ensuring that historical inequities and racial discrimination are included in discussions about urban development, policy formation, and legal frameworks to foster equitable and inclusive communities.
