Biography

Chair of the firm's Trademarks Practice Group, Lori provides global strategic management of trademark portfolios for multinational corporations, technology startups and a variety of other businesses.

A former Trademark Examining Attorney at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Lori helps clients develop strategies that cultivate and protect their intellectual property assets through the procurement, maintenance, licensing and enforcement of trademarks and copyrights.

Lori’s clients operate in a variety of industries, include entertainment, video games, technology, telecommunications, apparel, food & beverages, nutraceuticals, consumer products, construction, and industrial equipment and chemicals. Among her clients are famous bands and technology and multimedia companies.

Lori also assists domestic and international clients with the intellectual property aspects of mergers & acquisitions. She conducts due diligence on such deals, uncovering potential landmines in the process that could drastically impact valuations or business strategies.

Lori also handles:

  • trademark clearance searches, including the drafting of legal opinions regarding availability
  • the filing and prosecution of domestic and international trademark applications
  • the drafting and negotiating of various trademark agreements, including licenses, sponsorship agreements and co-existence agreements
  • trademark enforcement matters, including cease and desist letters, take down notices, and opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the USPTO

Before Fox Rothschild

Prior to joining Fox Rothschild, Lori was a partner at a West Coast intellectual property law firm. Before that, she was a Trademark Examining Attorney for the USPTO, where she examined and ruled on trademark applications for registration and represented the USPTO in appeals before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.

Beyond Fox Rothschild

Lori has lectured on a range of topics in the fields of trademarks, copyrights and domain names in a variety of settings, including professional, academic and business organizations.

In addition to her legal practice, Lori has served as a Lecturer in Law for the Intellectual Property and Technology Law and Small Business Clinics at the University of Southern California (USC) Gould School of Law, where she supervised students in providing free trademark services to entrepreneurs, startup companies, artists, journalists, musicians and nonprofit organizations who have limited resources for legal services.

Lori believes strongly in community service. She currently serves on the board of directors and as a volunteer for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Los Angeles, a nonprofit that organizes the community to take action and advocate for children and families in LA County’s overburdened child welfare and juvenile justice systems.
