A partner in the firm’s Health Law Practice, Hewitt handles administrative litigation, health care disputes and regulatory matters, and represents health care providers in a variety of commercial and business disputes.

“Health care disputes present a unique challenge because they involve the intersection of state and federal laws and regulations with the operational challenges faced by health care providers,” said Hewitt. “To become an effective litigator in this field, you need to understand the industry as well as the law.”

He frequently advises health systems, health care facilities, service providers and related entities such as dental support organizations and health maintenance organizations on regulatory compliance, contracting and related issues before the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, professional licensing boards and North Carolina Department of Insurance.

Hewitt also served as chair of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Health Law Section for the 2022-23 term and serves on the board of directors for SearStone Continuing Care Retirement Community.
