Daily Journal Recognizes Evan Winet Among Top Estate & Wealth Management Lawyers
Fox Rothschild congratulates Evan D. Winet, who was named to the Daily Journal’s 2026 Top Estate & Wealth Management Lawyers list, which honors attorneys making a significant impact in estate and trust planning and wealth management.
A partner in the Taxation & Wealth Planning Department, Winet represents parties in trust and estate litigation throughout California and beyond. The recognition highlights Winet’s trial successes, including a recent trust contest in which his team won a pivotal motion in limine that excluded a significant portion of the opposing side’s evidence and led to a favorable settlement the next day. “I believed we had built a very strong case to defeat claims that a trust and will were invalid due to incapacity and undue influence,” Winet told the Daily Journal. “However, as often happens, the warring siblings just wouldn't settle.”
In another trial, Winet helped defend a disputed estate by focusing on the settlor’s capacity and freedom from undue influence. “I love working with expert witnesses, especially neurologists,” he said. “In this case, I was able to take our expert meticulously through medical and lay evidence, leaving little room for doubt.” The judge cited extensively from his examination in a written decision favoring the defense.
Winet spent a decade as a university theater professor before practicing law, an experience he says helps him connect with juries, judges and clients. “As a seasoned performer, I’m comfortable in the courtroom as well as around the conference table,” he said. “As a seasoned teacher, I enjoy working one-on-one with clients, discussing their goals and needs and making sure they understand what's going on with their case.”
Winet writes for the California Trusts and Estates Quarterly, serves as annual editor of the CEB Practice Guide California Trust and Probate Litigation and volunteers with TEXCOM’s litigation subcommittee.
