Fox Counsels MGM International in $850 Million Casino Acquisition

Nicholas Casiello Jr., chair of the Gaming Practice Group at Fox Rothschild LLP, served as regulatory counsel to MGM Resorts International in its purchase of the Empire City Casino, a racetrack and video lottery facility, for approximately $850 million.

Fox’s Real Estate Group, including Jesse Masyr, partner, and Elizabeth Bennett, associate, served as local real estate counsel to MGM Resorts during the transaction.

Sitting on a 97 acre property in Yonkers, New York, the Empire City Casino offers gaming, racing, dining and entertainment to approximately 16 million gaming customers in the Northeast.

For more than 30 years, Casiello has practiced all aspects of gaming law, including licensing, acquisitions, compliance plans and investigations and financing. He represents an array of clients in the gaming industry including, casinos, gaming equipment manufacturers and technology providers, private equity firms and other investors.
