Biography
Zach provides a full suite of transactional, corporate, and intellectual property legal services to clients in the music industry.
He guides clients through complex music transactions, including acquisitions, sales and securitizations of catalogs of musical compositions and recordings ranging in value from six figures to nine figures. He has substantial experience in copyright law, with a particular emphasis on statutory termination analysis under the U.S. Copyright Act and its application to catalog transactions.
Zach also provides broad corporate legal advice to companies operating in all facets of the music industry, with a focus on drafting and negotiating thoughtful operating agreements and other governance documents.
Additionally, Zach provides strategic advice to songwriters and recording artists on agreements and licenses related to music publishing and recording.
Before Fox Rothschild
Zach joined us from a boutique music law firm. He previously practiced corporate and intellectual property law at an international law firm.
During law school, Zach was a business and legal affairs intern for Epic Records. He also completed externships with an international law firm and the Honorable Alex Kozinski of the U.S Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.
Zach was President of Columbia Law School's Entertainment, Art, and Sports Law Society. He was also an online editor of the Columbia Journal of Law and the Arts and earned the Michael D. Remer Prize for his aptitude in arts and copyright law.
Prior to embarking upon his legal career, Zach worked as a freelance pop culture writer for various online magazines.
